Tip #1 – Turn Off Your Lights.
Turning off your lights is one of the tips! Sometimes it’s the small things that we forget to do, like lock the front door, or put water down for the dogs. It might be simple to turn off lights, but sometimes your forget! If your a parent and have kids, you should have a talk with them and let them know that by turning off lights you will help save energy, and will be a good habit to get into. Over time, the more you save energy, the more surprised you are going to be on your energy bill.
Tip #2 – Consider CFL or LED Bulbs.
If you are really worried about how high your energy bill is, you should try switching to LED bulbs. LED bulbs are way more energy efficient and will save you a lot of money and hassle of changing the bulb. These LED bulbs use way less energy and last a lot longer! By changing just one or two bulbs in your house, it will accumulate 30-60 dollars over the life span of the bulb.
Tip #3 – Install A Programmable Thermostat. AND USE IT!
The Thermostat that is installed in your wall if it isn’t a programmable thermostat, you should consider changing it. Nowadays any new ac system comes with a programmable thermostat, don’t hesitate to put that to work! You should change your settings for day time and night time, it isn’t good to leave it on 72 all day and night for example. It shouldn’t be that hard to program your thermostat for what temperatures you want it to be in your home, if you have any trouble programming it, don’t hesitate to call a professional! Tip #4 – Regularly Change Your Air Filter.
Another tip is to change your filter regularly, generally once a month. One of the finishing things we would like to tell you about energy efficiency tips, is that you should change your air filter once a month. Not cleaning or changing your air filters for your ac system, will make your system work much harder than normal, and be less energy efficient. Generally, the normal home energy tips would say the times you change your air filters, is once a month. During the hot months of summer when you use your system a bunch, you should check your filters every 2 weeks or so. If you have a large family, and have pets running around. You should check your filter every 2 weeks regardless on how hot it is or how much you use the system.
