It’s Time To Winterize! Tips for Heating San Antonio
There are many great ways to save money on your heating bills this winter. You don’t have to freeze in order to save money. You may also qualify for up to $1500 in tax credits on your income tax return so be sure to look into as many ways as you can save money to keep your home warm and toasty. Here is our first post in a 3 part series sharing a few ways to get you started on saving money on your winterization and most of them won’t cost you more than some of your time.
1. Turn Down That Water Heater
Set your water heater at 120 degrees Fahrenheit and no higher. You’ll save yourself from being scalded and you’ll save hundreds of dollars in heating costs over the course of the year. Consider a solar water heater and save even more on your water heating costs. There are many federal tax credits that will pay thirty percent of the cost on new solar water heaters.
Take advantage of federal tax credits and purchase solar water heaters and stop wasting all of the water in your water heater tank by keeping it hot at all hours of the day or night when it’s not being used. 2. Use Storm Doors and Windows
Installing storm doors can increase your homes energy efficiency by up to forty-five percent. You’ll seal drafts and reduce the cold air flow into your home. By using storm doors, you’ll get plenty of light into your home which will help to heat your home solar style as well.
Use storm windows whenever possible. When the cold weather starts you regular pained windows will still allow some of the cold drafts into your home. Storm windows will help to block this draft and allow you to take advantage of extra light which can easily help heat your home.
3. Tune Up Your Heating System
Just as your car needs a regular tune-up, so does your heating system. Have your furnace serviced annually by a professional or learn how to service it yourself. It should be vacuumed, cleaned and lubricated annually. This will save you up to five percent of all of your heating costs.
We offer maintenance, tuneup, and checkup services by tour qualified technicians. Call early or schedule your appointment far in advance. It’s always wise to pre-plan so if you schedule your appointment a few months from now you’re more likely to get the date that works the best for you.
