Which is better? A bedroom that has icicles dangling from the lampshades or a living room that feels vaguely like you are standing on the equator? Obviously, neither of these options are very inviting! But if you are having a rough time regulating the temperature in your house, why not try to troubleshoot your thermostat before you request an expensive service call?
Troubleshoot Your Thermostat by Following These Steps
Checking your thermostat is simple. Just follow these steps to check your thermostat for problems:
First, turn off all the power to your heating and cooling system.
Then take off the plate covering your thermostat. You can then loosen the mounting screws using a simple screwdriver.
Next, you want to remove the body of the thermostat.
Now you can take a moment to inspect all of the connections.
Are all of the wires securely attached? If not, tighten them up using your screwdriver. If any of them are broken or frayed, you should strip the wires and then reattach them.
Now replace the cover and go and turn the power back on!
Chances are you may have just fixed your problem in these simple steps! Try adjusting to your desired temperature and wait to see how your AC unit responds.
